Outsider Art is created by artists whose creative urge is driven by their emotional or mental instability.
The genuine outsider artist often lives on the fringe of society, outside the mainstream, locked in their own
personal world. Their work is not academically trained and when first beginning to create, they don’t call
what they do “art” or think of it as anything more than, in the words of Charlie Lucas, “toys to tinker with.”
It just flows out from them like water from a natural spring.
